First Birthday

Today we celebrated my first birthday. My two buddies, Mel and Kai, came with their parents, Verita, Daniel and Hannah. My Doula Shawna was here with her husband Jeff and daughter Sarah. My Buddha Mama Heather, Barbara Rose and her daughter Ursula came too. They all sang to me. At first, I was not quite sure what to make of the party, for it was a bit overwhelming. Then, I took a bite of the delicious food Mama made for the celebration. Wow! I loved it. It was an apple crisp with raisins, almonds, butter, and maple syrup. On top was a whipping cream with some maple syrup. This was my first sweet! I had seconds. Mama wanted me to just dig in, but I preferred it when she fed me. Still, I did get some cream on my pants and crown.

Then my friends and I played with my toys. This was fun! Baba spent the last two days making a wooden cart for me. I pushed it all around the house. When everyone left, I got in the cart and let Baba push me around. I was also given some big blocks to stack and a front loader I can pull around and some rockin' clothes. Sarah, who is in the fourth grade, knitted a dream catcher for me. Mama said she will hang it above my crib. It will stay folded up until I am old enough to open it. Other family and friends contributed to my college fund. Mama and Baba are very grateful for that. I am oblivious, as I should be. All my grandparents called and sang to me over the phone. Some of my cousins sang to me too. I smiled and danced when I heard them. What a good day!

Almost One!

It's the day before my first birthday. Here I am in my Green Bay Packers shirt Great-Grandma Phyllis gave me. I've getting ready for my bath. I love bath time. I splash around and point to body parts so Mama will tell me what they are. My favorite body parts: belly, penis, toes, knees, calves, thighs. My favorite parts to point to on Mama: nose, lips, eyes, ears, eyebrows.

I have eight teeth. I love to eat. I usually have four meals a day--breakfast, Elevensise, lunch, dinner and then a nighttime milk. My favorite foods are beans-rice-veggies, homemade turkey vegetable soup, bread with hummus, oatmeal, veggies with coconut oil, brown rice noodles with nutritional yeast and peas, oaty-o's, peas, split pea soup, bananas and raisins. Four nights ago, I stopped asking for Mama Milk at night. Now, I only nurse once a day--first thing in the morning. I'm getting so big. I like to feed myself little bits of food. I like to hold my spoon and stir my food. Sometimes I even get food into my mouth from my bowl. Here I am stirring my roasted veggies (potatoes, beets, carrots, sweet potatoes). I think it's kind of funny.

Music Boys

Kai and I like to play music together. He is an awesome harmonica player, like his Papa. I really enjoy percussion instruments, like my Baba. Here we are having a jam session at Kai's house, earlier this week.

January moments

Smiling with Mama.

Trying to feed Mama some of my food. I really like feeding myself, and my shirt, and our dog, and the floor and Mama.

I have begun following Sylvie around. The first time Sylvie met me, Baba brought me to see her in the kitchen. I was a week or two old. She sniffed me and then went into the living room. When she returned, she had my little booties in her mouth. Very sweet. Still, she's not quite sure what to think of me. But she is very patient and lets me pet her. I like to climb on her bed and give her pats. I also like to look at her paws. I always want to get into her food and water bowl, but I know it's hers and I'm not supposed to, so I try to stay away from them.

This is the toy my cousin Jacob got me for Christmas. I really enjoying hitting the balls with the mallet. Sometimes I put them all back and do it again. This is just a short video of my play time. Thanks Jacob!

January snow

January in Colorado is very white. Mama and Baba have been taking me cross country skiing.

Playing in the snow with Mama.

That winter mountain sun is mighty powerful.

This sure is a lot of snow...

In Baba's arms.

I like feeding myself, but I really like feeding Mama.

Solomon loves cats

Here is a video of Solomon playing with Wrigley, Paul and Deborah's cat. Wrigley is bigger than Solomon and is very sweet to children. The other cats ran from Solomon, but Wrigley let Solomon pet him and follow him around.
