Today we celebrated my first birthday. My two buddies, Mel and Kai, came with their parents, Verita, Daniel and Hannah. My Doula Shawna was here with her husband Jeff and daughter Sarah. My Buddha Mama Heather, Barbara Rose and her daughter Ursula came too. They all sang to me. At first, I was not quite sure what to make of the party, for it was a bit overwhelming. Then, I took a bite of the delicious food Mama made for the celebration. Wow! I loved it. It was an apple crisp with raisins, almonds, butter, and maple syrup. On top was a whipping cream with some maple syrup. This was my first sweet! I had seconds. Mama wanted me to just dig in, but I preferred it when she fed me. Still, I did get some cream on my pants and crown.
Then my friends and I played with my toys. This was fun! Baba spent the last two days making a wooden cart for me. I pushed it all around the house. When everyone left, I got in the cart and let Baba push me around. I was also given some big blocks to stack and a front loader I can pull around and some rockin' clothes. Sarah, who is in the fourth grade, knitted a dream catcher for me. Mama said she will hang it above my crib. It will stay folded up until I am old enough to open it. Other family and friends contributed to my college fund. Mama and Baba are very grateful for that. I am oblivious, as I should be. All my grandparents called and sang to me over the phone. Some of my cousins sang to me too. I smiled and danced when I heard them. What a good day!
