May roundup

I am learning to use a spoon. Quite an adventure really. I have much better aim when I use my left hand, but I like to try both. This is the smile that says I am delighted and proud.

Mama went away for a week to California. She went with this crazy bunch of adults...

And the 8th grade class at the Waldorf School.

She spent time on the beach and at the aquarium in Monterey.

And hiked for a bit in Yosemite. Then on to San Francisco.
She missed me a lot while she was gone, but enjoyed remembering what it is like to have a totally open schedule, without naps or diaper changes. Baba sent her pictures of me on her phone every day. Baba and I hung out a lot. I also spent time with different friends every day while Baba worked.

Meanwhile, I am doing all sorts of new things. I talk all the time. I say lots of words and am able to explain myself quite well. This morning I put two words together and said, "Bye bye Baba". I also said, "No cheese," when Baba asked me if I wanted some for a snack. I am really into learning people's names. Sometimes I just start saying my cousins' names: Ella, Zoe, Anna, etc. Other times I name my friends: Sarah, Shawna, Jeff. Then, sometimes I just say Grandpapa over and over again. When Mama reads me a story, I try to repeat the last word on the page. Sometimes I just babble though. I say all sorts of things that make Mama and Baba laugh. Here I am walking quickly through the house, having a conversation about...??

I also really like to help around the house. This video is from a few weeks ago when I helped Mama load the washing machine. Today I took her car keys and tried to put them into the lock of the door. When Mama or Baba change my diaper now, I stand up and take the old one to the trash can and throw it away saying, "Trash, trash, trash". Yesterday Mama was preparing to paint a wall in the house. She taped the edges of the wall and then used a screwdriver to take all the plates off the electric outlets. She was then a bit apprehensive when I took the screwdriver and tried to do the same thing--stick it in the electric outlet. Imitation is everything.

Great videos. I'll show them to Hannah and see if she gets inspired... everything to her is still "ba-ba" or "ma-ma" and variations of those.

I got the picture from mom- it's super-cute and I love it!
